MEDLAB - Western Region
Our History
Terre Haute Medical Laboratory was established on October 7, 1947 by Dr. Leon L. Blum with a goal to provide the Wabash Valley with the best possible laboratory services available. As our facilities have expanded to meet the needs of the medical community, the complexities of laboratory testing have also grown. Dr. Blum's vision of a successful laboratory continued for the next 60 years. Beginning in 2007, an association united Terre Haute Medical Laboratory with Laboratory Partners, where the framework and a new vision began. Acquisitions of other successful independent laboratories, crossing a large section of the Midwest from Cleveland, OH to Louisville, KY and from Cincinnati, OH to St. Louis, MO, created the largest Regional Independent Laboratory known as MEDLAB.

Our Accreditations
MEDLAB is accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) through the inspection and accreditation program of the College of American Pathologists. We participate in the College of American Pathologists Quality Assurance Programs, and various Survey Programs. Each section within the laboratory has extensive internal and external quality control programs which meet or exceed all current federal and state requirements. While most tests are performed in-house, some procedures are sent to reference laboratories which have been approved by CLIA.

MEDLAB is committed to providing superior laboratory services tailored to meet the needs of the medical community, just as Dr. Blum set out to do in 1947. We believe health care professionals will continue to appreciate the importance of regional, superior, clinically relevant, personalized laboratory services as they strive for efficient, competitively priced health care.
